Something Lemon and White with one eye and one ear

Luna is the lemon and white, Lucy is the black and white.
My little Luna needs some work on her eye. She has a luxating lens, which puts pressure on the eye, and she either needs a replacement lens, (3,000.00) or, eye removal, (600.00) in which case she will look like a pirate. I am having a hard time with this decision, as she is so expressive with her eyes. She is a Japanese Chin.

Her story goes as follows.. She was bought as a puppy by an older couple in Florida. The man of the house was out in the garden with Luna (then called something else) when by chance a younger man out on a walk with his little male black and white Chin, asked the older man (over the fence), if "that was a Japanese Chin". "Well, yes, it is! Do you want her?" he asked. "Yes! I'll have her!" said the young man. So the older man handed Luna (then called something else) over the fence and the younger man took her home to his then girlfriend, (just 17). Oh she fell in LOVE with Luna, (who was then called something else again), and they all lived happily together for about a month, until the girl became pregnant, the boyfriend (previously known as "younger man') left, and the girl moved back in with her parents, thus creating a problem. She couldn't for some reason move back in with two feisty dogs into a trailer with her parents. (what a nightmare for everybody, especially Luna, (who was then called something else). Well, she ended up in an Alabama Japanese Chin Rescue Foster home, and after a bit of adjusting, they determined her personality to be dominant aggressive with other dogs, and a biter. Not so! She is protective of her toys, and gets snappy if a dog tries to take her food while she is eating, but thats it. She loves to be cuddled with girls with long hair and high voices. She melts! She likes perfume and ladies laps, but she isn't that hot about boys, men, or people who look loud and rough. She watches them, like a little soldier. She lunges at big dogs that could eat her. She chases cats. She eats cat pooh if you don't watch her. She's a poo eater! YUCK. Luckily chances are very low that happens around here, as we are very good about our poo around this house. In fact, you could almost say, we are poo-less.

So Luna (who was at one point called "lexus" .. after the CAR)came to live with Lucy and Magic, Brutus (who ignores her) and Lulu who is too stupid to know what can happen to her if she moves in front of her, and now she is just part of the family. She is the first one out of the gate in the morning, the last one to come in. She fiercly guards her yard and deck, and loves people but isn't too hot about other dogs that may or may not get an ear rub or belly rub from mom. So, she is my little shadow. And now.. sigh.. I must decide about her eye. Should I have it removed? Or, should I get the lens replacement.. The dog won't see out of the eye either way, so as far as the vet is concerned it is more a human comfort to see a dog with both eyes. And, I see her point, as she is so precocious with her dark eyes being so expressive. She speaks with her eyes. So, I am trying to decide.. I think I may end up going with the removal, not as far as the money goes but more because with the implanted lens, they can suffer from discomfort from irritation and ulcering. Small percentage do, and it is hard to tell if they have pain. (According to the vet I use).
